Our Origins
In 1983 Alex Petrovic Jr., CFP® became a financial advisor, later founded Petrovic Financial Services, and for 35 years helped people successfully manage their investments and plan for their financial futures. In 2005, Alex’s son, Alex Petrovic III, CFP® joined Petrovic Financial Services after working as a lead financial analyst for The Boeing Company in Seattle.
In 1993 Sandi Weaver, CPA, CFP®, CFA®, formed Financial Security Advisors. Her successful firm was an early adopter of fee-only services and embraced a fiduciary relationship with her clients. In September 2015, Sandi sold Financial Security Advisors to Alex Petrovic III, CFP®.
Alex Petrovic III then became the owner and President of the new, combined firm, Petrovic Weaver Financial Services. Sandi Weaver has now left the firm and our name has changed to Petrovic Financial Services. We work diligently to provide comprehensive financial planning and investment management with honesty, integrity and a strong commitment to you and your family.
Importance of Independence
Petrovic Financial Services is an independent SEC Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm focused on the needs of its clients. Our relationship with Raymond James as our custodian gives us access to the breadth and depth of Raymond James’ resources, yet as an independent RIA firm we are allowed to run Petrovic Financial Services the way we see fit to best serve our clients.
Free from third-party influence, we offer unbiased, objective advice to help our clients make important decisions. We have no connection with any broker-dealer or investment group that encourages us to sell their particular products. This independence allows us to focus on our clients’ needs.
We have a fiduciary relationship with our clients. Fiduciary relationship means we are required to do what is in the client’s best interest. Please see the section below titled Our Fiduciary Duty for more information.
Our Relationship with Raymond James
In 2005 we began our relationship with Raymond James. We selected Raymond James as our custodian for its culture of putting clients’ interests first, sterling reputation and breadth and depth of resources.
We found that at Raymond James, all the talk about serving clients and putting their needs first actually amounts to more than words. Starting with Raymond James’s founders and continuing through to today, the Raymond James believes its long-term success is built upon putting the financial well-being of its clients first. A belief Petrovic Financial Services embrace as well. In addition, we are proud to use a custodian that has consistently advocated the benefits of financial planning and the Certified Financial Planner™ designation, as opposed to pushing product and short-term profits.
The extensive resources, research and investment solutions of Raymond James allow us to meet the needs of our clients. This approach allows us to provide a wide range of solutions by leveraging the expertise of Raymond James professionals, while collaborating with your existing legal and tax relationships.

Our Fiduciary Duty
As Certified Financial Planner™ professionals and fee-only investment advisors, we have a fiduciary standard of care when engaging clients and prospective clients.
What is a fiduciary? It is a person who is responsible for managing the assets of another person and stands in a special relationship of trust, confidence and/or legal responsibility.
We understand that our role as a fiduciary represents the highest standard of care for our profession. Our commitments to you include placing your interests first, acting with the utmost good faith and providing full transparency.
The fiduciary standard is a higher standard of care than the suitability standard, which is embraced by some financial advisors. The suitability standard says that the investment they recommend to you must be suitable. They are not required to recommend the lowest commission product or the one in your best interests.
We believe in placing your best interests first. Therefore, we are proud to commit to the following five fiduciary principles:
- We will always put our clients’ best interests first.
- We will act with prudence; that is, with the skill, care, diligence, and good judgment of a professional.
- We will not mislead clients, and will provide conspicuous, full and fair disclosure of all important facts.
- We will avoid all conflicts of interest.
- We will fully disclose and fairly manage, in our clients’ favor, any unavoidable conflicts.
